The Specialized High Schools of New York are well known for their excellence in education and the formidable achievements of their graduates. Admission to these schools is based entirely on the New York City Specialized Science High School Admissions Test (SSHSAT).

The SSHSAT is administered twice a year: in October for eighth graders, and in November for ninth graders. The ninth grade exam is more difficult than the eighth graders' in the math section, but the English section is the same.

Each year, over 45,000 students compete for the limited number of places available in these specialized schools. To have any real chance, students must be adequately prepared for this test. Even if a student is the best and brightest in his or her school, he or she can not get into the best specialized high school without proper preparation.

Ivy Bound Test Prep offers small class or one-on-one prep programs and guaranteed admission packages to help students reach their goals. 95% of our students are admitted to a specialized high school each year, most score well enough on the test to gain admission to Stuyvesant or Bronx Science. Our most successful students start their preparation at least a year in advance.

Exam prep:
Small groups focus on the two major multiple-choice sections of the SSHSAT
In verbal students learn key skills and strategies in scrambled paragraphs, logic reasoning, and reading
In math studentsl learn and review key concepts of algebra, artihmetic, and geometry.
Classes include monthly practice tests (weekly in the summer) to keep track of students' progress.
